Where you lay your head
real from roses comforted
by pink velvet or ouched
with thorns mired in black
tar challenged to separate
dreams with pillow talk or
tossing and turning all night
fighting evil demons

Caught between relationship
fantasies and the limitations
that you must acknowledge
day to day enforce your
foundation with passion

Focus on the positive tangible
aspects so you can remain
open to the love around you
even if it isn't yet quite what
you imagined enabling growth
petals at a time

I like that new, to me, ideophonic use of "ouched with thorns. We need more word play like this. It is too easy to relax into the standard, easy read, approach to writing. The dreams being punctuated by pillow talk is such a pleasant image too. Good work.

Another gem. "...enabling growth / petals a time" ... such a delicate form of growth, so fragrant and beautiful... this is an image I will long cherish and remember ... it is one of your best lines of all-time! .... I love the optimism in your "even if it isn't yet quite what you imagined" ... Creating a Mecca indeed! Nicely done, dearest Vivian.

First what a beautiful photo!
And yes, it is what we make of it
we can bring all to our own
positive if we desire.

Isn't it wonderful to bring such
beauty "petals at a time" ?

In other words if you can see with the one you love, love the one you're with? Besides, make your own Mecca is so much fun you might forget how much you miss him.

Thanks for the wise words in rose petals.

You have given us the ABC's of how to maintain a positive attitude whether we are having good times with that bed of roses, or more thorny situations which crop up every so often. Nice work.
