Tears of Deceit

A long-hanging crucifix brings fame and wealth to an old Gothic Church in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Is it caused by human deceit or true divine intervention?..

My Brother Jimmy after living homeless for years DID finally find a home. Only then did he get in touch with his siblings. He refused to tell me all the horrors he'd been through living in the woods. He passed away nearly two years ago, but the horrors of him living like that still haunt me...I love you, Jimmy..

A pile of brittle dry leaves
Was often your bed
No soft downy pillow
To gently lay your head
Such a sad way to live
It was my brothers fate
I didn't find out
Till it was much too late

Your meals from a dumpster
You suffered alone
While you struggled in life
Your dreams had gone
No walls to protect you
From Winter's cold wind
Just bittersweet memories
Of what could have been

It hurts so much
That you were living this way
We'd somehow lost touch
As the years slipped away
A tired, homeless man
With no where to go
I'm so sorry, dear brother
But I didn't know....

Sad and very touching. I'm sorry for your loss... There are many who live that way , but I think perhaps for some , their life would be different if they could choose another path to walk on...M

Wow Linda, these words speak volumes...

"It hurts so much
That you were living this way

As the years slipped away
A tired, homeless man
With no where to go
I'm so sorry, dear brother
But I didn't know...."

Yes, many of us just don't know. That is why I support a homeless ministry. Sometimes I will not know how to help them, but God does.

Peace, love and blessings,

I am sure you are haunted with "what ifs". What if I had only...His pain was his to bear and until he was ready to share there was nothing you could do. I am sorry for your loss: not only of your brother but of the innocence of your childhood memories with him. Beautifully written. Keep writing, for us, and for yourself! Be well, be strong, Kathy

So sad. Made me think of my nephew, who stayed with me when he was thirteen and hid from me some destructive behavior. A good heavy equipment operator when he was sober, he got very abusive to his mother, my sister, and has been banished from the family. He may very well be on the street like your brother Jimmy.

Aw! This is heartwrenching, Linda....I had a brother like that....rarely saw him...and then one day he was gone...console yourself with the fact you had no way of knowing he was in trouble...

A wonderful tribute to your brother
He must have been a very strong soul
to survive. I am sure pride was in
the way of letting others know Linda.

All of us suffer from pride to a degree
Refusing to take help from another and
mostly family. For whatever our reasons
we never want to appear a failure in
the ability to take care of ourselves.

But as Karen said, there was a happy ending.
