So many friends across the globe
Whose warmth I hold most dear
All wish me well and send me strength
But none of them are here
Around me there are goats and sheep
And deer up on the brind
Crows that fly high overhead
Then hover on the wind
In a world so overpopulated
Where are those crowds so vast?
For I’ve not seen a single soul
Since Monday evening last
I’m alone, imprisoned here
By another’s dire deeds
Serving out my sentence
Whilst my man attends his needs
There is no correspondence
Nor means to fly away
I must remain because the law
Says here I have to stay
One day I hope to start anew
Begin afresh and strong
Rebuild a life of tactile friends
And sing a brand new song
‘til then it’s lonely Friday
Saturday, Sunday too
The sod’s caught me in limbo
And there’s nothing I can do.
