A search for meaning in life

‘NEW AGE’

The unending strife we create,
The lives we blight.
The goodness in our hearts,
Hidden from sight

Justice hovering at our door,
Awaiting our admission.
Equality for all,
Lost in regulation.

Yet see the horizons of our dreams,
An age of enlightment to be.
Flickering at the edges of our hopes,
For you and for me

Sorrows retreat in lives filled with hope,
As we ascend the abyss.
Time to escape,
Our human apocalypse.

The world’s new age to come,
War and hunger, our past.
Vanquished from our lives
At last. At last.

Like you, I am an optimist about the future. Right now, all around us are the naysayers who think that the problems we have a greater than the ones we had before and that they are unsolvable except by drastic measures taking us back a hundred years or more. I have looked at history and found every generation better off than the last. There is no reason that trend will not continue in spite of our basest fears.
