Broken hearts and broken dreams never die...and never heal.

A Love Lost

We shared moments
That will never die
Moments when our spirits soared
To the depths of our beliefs
And to heights that our
Minds and our bodies
Did not understand
And could not sustain.
We were on borrowed time
And we knew it.

The Isle of Man
Was your dream
It was your life
It was not ours.
I could not compete with your memories
I could not re-live your dreams
And make them ours.

In my imagination I could only
Walk through ephemeral fields
That I never touched
Where the rain and the wind
Could only remind me of our love.
Through a misty cloud
I caught a glimpse of the knoll
Overlooking the sea
Where once you lay and dreamed
Your dreams.
I wished against reason
They were our dreams.

Long ago the mist lifted
Now you and the dream are gone.
But I will taste your lips
And I will hear your voice
And I will feel your presence
Until the wind and the rain
And the sea and the mist
And imaginary days
Are all gone.

I think you answered your own question, Ron. Those who have never lost at love have missed out on a deliciously painful part of life.

This poem seems out of character for you… Unless is it true, and the Isle of Mann holds some remembrance of a past love, like Saskatoon does for me.
