| Three points of this poem, Vivian, swell out from this wonderful writing. First: "as the shadow becomes the/ faith behind our back..." how unique I find this correlary; and I immediately thought of reversing the shadow to be in front of us and we step into our destiny and faith. Second: "....junctions becoming/less cumbersome one by one" oh, what truth is that. With age comes wisdom, but as you say here, with experience so does the wisdom arrive. Third: "A journey where we were not/meant to stay..." I like that. I like this whole creation. ~~ Diana |

A lot to ponder, but I would suffice to say that it is the process, the journey
through life that makes us who we are, and not where we end up.

| You have maintained that climbing up the staircase of life imagery right throughout the piece without it seeming too contrived. some really good phrases too. I particularly like your second verse, it really captures your theme perfectly. |

"...A journey where we were not meant to stay..."
is the most truthful way of seeing it, the one
certainty. As Christine says, such a wise poem;
fine delivery, Vivian

The start of this poem made me think of the title of a book I read, must be fifty years ago, with the name of "Up the Down Staircase."
Back to your poem. You, of course, are so correct in saying that . . . "they will / be measured by deeds along / the way by their portrayal / for a world without end"
Our journey is the destination. That is profound, Vivian. |
