by David Toft

When, with just a fluttering of butterflies in your stomach, all your enemies will die, you must be very, very careful how you treat your friends...

This poem is about how beauty is fleeting and yet it is eternal. The Rose is a semblance of fleeting beauty because one minute the rose is at its peak of beauty then it withers in the next.

 Even the most

beautiful of roses

can be taught

to cry

for when life

comes to

a tragic

stop everyone

around a once

beautiful crimson

rose to watch

as it finally

cries away

its color

to make

tears of

crimson  from

a lonely white

rose lost in

a garden of

crimson and poison ivy

for even the

most beautiful

of roses can

become as

poisonous as

a black widow's venom

There is a poisonous venom to your words that expresses a great hurt.
