I know it is a little early for spooky Halloween type writes but this is just where my muse took me so who am I to argue...
PS I would like to issue a challenge open to all to compose at least one creepy poem between now and the end of October in Memory of Georg Mateos who so loved our AD Halloween Bashes

The Manse

Where vague shadows dance with silhouettes

to the percussion of questionable white noise

old, porcelain figurine wall flowers look on

dusty and chipped they try to retain their poise

threadbare carpets smell like musty cat piss

through broken glass, moth-eaten drapes sway

gray mouse turds and empty wino bottles litter

and the stars cannot penetrate, dispelling gloom away

old crimson stains are now faded brindle brown

on wallpaper stripping like a ten buck whore

long lost evidence of blood-curdling screams

attrocities of evil committed sometime long before

as the last fetid grains of sand try to escape

what’s left of the evil that lurks in the night

the porcelain figurines curse disgruntled oaths

to dancing silhouette and shadows feigned delight

‘tis the hour vermin return to sleep inverted

for the spectral orchestra to depart the stage

for unearthly dancers bow to partners one last time

the desecrated last waltz to disengage…

How perfect is what Jon said of you offering the winning entry. The detail contained in this presentation is exquisite. This should be fun, reading the writings of those accepting your invite. "Let the Games begin...and may the odds be ever in your favor." ~~ Diana

Wow, Felix! There now, you have proposed a challenge and offered the winning entry all in one deft move - how fair is that? - though I will do my best to enter the challenge in memory of our friend Georg I'll not be able to top this spooky and expertly conceived gem - your final line is to kill for - I wish you love and peace my friend - Join Michael

A place our close mammal relatives, raccoons, rats, possums, and bats, call “home.” I don't find the house creepy at all, just dirty and disgusting and in need of a good house cleaning.

The Manse is very good Mr. Freaky Fee, and you've resurrected many wonderful memories of our dear departed brother Georg Edvard who truly delighted in Howloween.
