for Al W. Graham

I blow my nose noisily I admit
And I do it just for the hell of it
Perhaps a bad habit for all I know
The trumpet of the swan blows and goes on
Still on the lake like maybe a mistake

A trick my Grandpa showed me once upon
A time a long time ago even though
I feel young I look old but even so
As still a silly boy I still enjoy
Remembering my Grandpa with a honk

Lucky to have known him but Gott sei Dank
Got more than that he taught a thing or two
For now entre nous then how about you
Might you do some remembering thing too?
You might even honk something like I do

My mother wished my Grandpa never showed
Me how to honk thought my head might explode
As well as the received barbarity
Of it that she perceived but c'est la vie
How it was with him then now is with me

Just like my Grandpa I too am a swan
The trumpet of the swan blows and goes on

I think my brother caught it from you. Sometimes I think he's going to blow his head off.

Careful not to attract too many swans who might think your honk irresistable!

Love ya!
