Every secret of a writer's soul, every experience of his life, every quality of his mind is written large in his works.
~Virginia Woolf~

I like your style

Standing on the corner
Leaning on the pole
She noticed gent a standing
Tall and lean and bold

Chewing gum she eyed him
Mouth turned up with a smile
slowly she approached him
in her sashay style

What ya doing mister?
with pen and pad in hand
I see ya writing something
love letter or perhaps?

Her perfume overwhelming
her lips were ruby red
her skirt hugged hips a swaying
leaning close to him

He said I am a writer
I keep my notebook near
and when the mood does strike me
I want to make things clear

So what ya writing mister
as she nuzzled up real close
something you can show me
its slow right now and cold

He said it’s not quite finished
but I had to write it down
for I do not want to lose them
I’ve learned before and found

So in my pocket carry
small notebook and a pen
and sometimes write a story
if even on a whim

She cozied in much closer
warm breath upon his neck
said, “Can you write me something
for this lady you have met?”

He looked her over carefully
and smiled from head to toe
and shortly starts a scribbling
and set her eyes a glow

He handed her the paper
her eyes on words he wrote
she looked at him a smiling
with hand upon her throat

She handed back his paper
and turned to walk away
with her hips a swaying
she turned to him to say

You really are good mister
and with a wink and smile
I’ll tell you this much mister
I really like your style

You have captured and shared the experience most effectively via your verses, Carol. I'm not that tall and I certainly am not bold. ☺ Love and best wishes,

Wow! That was the most seductive thing I've read in a long time! I'll have to try that trick some time. I didn't know writers had that kind of magnetic quality? Maybe we just have to look like Richard Gere and write like Ian Fleming.

If Virginia Woolf wrote from her experience, and the only thing I know of her is that awful, hateful, dysfunctional drunken performance by Elizabeth Taylor, the poor woman must have had a dreadful life. ;-)

A wonderful thought about how writers can keep fresh, new ideas from slipping their mind. I have a "Frag" notebook at home and it has small notes and thoughts for future poems or articles; I use it often! I like this poem and agree; writers receive inspiration from so many places. PS I must say that I love the style of Richard Gere! Totally hot. Great picture!

Anyone can write, but it takes talent to form into words and you have that talent Carol, I'm sure the other writers can agree

Aw, and she walked away seemingly ending what could be an interesting afternoon.

I was sitting in a lounge one day in Shreveport, Louisiana and there were two barmaids working it. One of them caught my eye and I whipped out my pad and trusty pen and jotted down a quick poem which was definitely one that told the woman I admired her. She read it and mumbled her thanks, and I could see that I touched her heart. She let the other barmaid read it and the other one asked if I'd write one for her. I did, but where the first poem was all about beauty and love and very suggestive that I would like to know her better, the second poem was pure poison and it made the second barmaid cry. I could have written her one similar to the first one, but I don't like being pushed into a corner and made to do something that I didn't want to. Excuse me for being long-winded with "my" story.

About your poem, like the woman said, I like your style.
