To my Son at 40
I remember ...
a precious baby
cradled in my arms,
the safest place that you could be
protected from all harm.
I remember your first steps
..then watching you run,
From the very beginning
you were a such a special son.
Time flew by on golden wings...
school and play, being with your friends
always kind and loving,
known to all as “Gentle Ben”.
Your college days have come and gone
...still an Ole Miss Rebel deep inside!
You’ve worked and learned life’s lessons
relying on God, your Faithful Guide.
He walks with you on your path
as you expand your course and vision,
now a husband and a father
who seeks His holy wisdom.
I watched you grow from boy to man...
we’ve shared a lot these forty years
I am so proud of how you’ve grown
seasoned by laughter as well as tears.
