To accept one’s own limitations is not without a cost.

Truth's Patience

Like a seed aspiring the bloom
A cloud anticipating its passion to purge
The slap of a newborn's bottom
Life's first gasp
Introduces realization

Freedom seems apparent
Until strings become attached
Actuality seldom feels grounded
As suspension becomes the norm

Time passes
Expectations wane
Brightly painted smiles
Succumb to harsh realities

So

Many dream

Like Pinocchio's yearnings
Wanting only to be real-alive
Minions cling to time's make-believe-toys
Prolonging the loneliness of growing

Age accelerates
While pretending-to-be
Lags behind
Accepting not
Fate's inherent limitations

Yet

Beyond disillusionment
Resides infinite purpose
At times outside destiny's crosshairs
Lazing on the void
Awaiting fully opened eyes
Whose focus can place
Vertical and horizontal convergence
Upon truth's reward

Here locked tears
Burst like awaiting match heads
Erupting too quickly
For flaming doubt to contain

the imagery stood out, crisp in my mind's eye and what we precieve to be true or not, a dancing marionette we are at times. really liked this.

Causes a lot of thoughts to cross my mind, but mostly about the toll that hesitation takes on our lives.

I think dreams often sustain us; if not for one's dreams, life might be truly unbearable.

Oh, three glorious parts, "Prolonging the loneliness of growing" and "Burst like awaiting match heads" and "outside destiny's crosshairs." Those are terrific, but so is this whole writing. ~~ Diana
