I got caught up in a recording this morning that nudged away until I gave in. (Like Water by Bun-Ching Lam) When our senses cannot be relegated to rest, we sometimes have to give them attention, or forever be antagonized by their persistence.

Watercolors in the Rain

Shards of brittle disappointment

cascade toward cavernous asylum

deep beneath judgment's layers

where pain holds court

its faceless clock

forever ticking endless sentences

That place where memory's tenacious tentacles

conduct ghost-like stringed adagios

embraced by down-filled boundaries of time

Mortality's hourglass of lessons

trickles endlessly into memorial sanctuaries

where life's ethereal architecture

once occupied with heavily laden purpose

now peacefully whispers watercolors in the rain

I'm thinking those two words Ron found tantalizing and beautiful weren't "brittle" or "tentacles," maybe they were "down-filled" and "whispers," maybe "adagios." I'm thinking the very best words of this poem are its title, and how double good to make those the 'last' words. "...faceless clock" is surely first-runner up for me, though. ~~ Diana

Once again, I'm not sure I have captured all you mean. However I find two words in this little piece most tantalizing and beautiful.

An interesting reaction to this fluent post-modernist classical music. These inventions of his, Odinsan, (whether composed or improvised) don't seem to start or end, they just appear and survive temporarily. Like a slow moving fog that inundates and moistens everything and then leaves. Or, as you generalize with your title, during the life, or extent of the piece, spread out and continue to blend into other hues and shades with a kind of watery transparency. Would make good soundtracks for psycho-dramas I'm thinking. Peace ...
