To Love is to Live, and To Live Is To Lose

Joy springs forth in the heart which doth love.

To this it is to wholly live and to ransom all above.

Yet in living there is the darkness of those which die.

For as the sun doth shine in love, so come clouds of sorrow and hearts that sigh.

In life our hand is by the Almighty without trepidation dealt.

We encompass love; we surrender all only to be scorned by death.

Hearts lie singed on deserts without hope and doom.

No room left to love as the promise of life to lose shall always loom.

Yet to not have ever loved means that one has never truly in whole lived.

No smile; no laughter and yes, no sadness softness of heart to in love gives.

I trace not the past, nor do I foretell the coming of days.

I just see; I feel and know of life and its often and many cruel ways.

Thus and again I question, tis I better to have never loved and lost?

Or doth one yield his heart and soul and allow the knowing coming of hurt and pain?

Therefore I live, and I love, yet I have lost so much in the hurt of the coming day.

I stand now above the clouds of darkness which forever linger as a sleepy haze below.

I watch from a distance whilst unseen, separated by our time that we all know.

Sleep is sweet…the lasting peace…the silence amidst a void welcomes me home.

Yes, I loved, and yes I lived, but now rest is at hand and soon I shall be known as I am known.

That is a pretty heavy load you lay down on this page. I so hope it has helped to express and excise some of this pain. It was difficult yet compelling to read. I do see some positive things and I hope you are alright. Be well, Kathy

I find this so gloomy and downtrodden. I hope you are feeling better soon and that your poetry reflects it.
