He paused and looked in his purse,
found a little bit more than expected.
“Then I shall have my just desserts”.
And walked until he selected
a place that seemed not too dire,
at least it seemed clean of obvious filth
which was more than he required.
He sat at a table, relaxed, drank his will.
“Give me your best”, Said he to her.
“And don’t keep me waiting too long.”
She traded coins for a key with a knowing smirk
and he assumed she pegged him wrong.
Not long but not quick enough for he
the girl reappeared with a smile.
“Come with me, Sir, and I will show ye
the reason you’ve waited a while".
He arose from his seat by the fire
judging the situation quite safe,
and so followed as he did admire
The view from behind her slight frame.
She turned once with finger to smile
To admonishing him to silent, obey.
They stopped after a short, tense while
at a third floor door at the end of the way.
Nodded she, that this was his ill repute
and he did knock without much preamble.
Already his stirrings had grown too acute.
The door opened to take on his gamble.
Hazy candlelight gathered round a crown
Of glorious golden red hair
Which surrounded a fairy like face
His lust grew to forceful lengths and flared.
No longer possessed of a rational thought
He dove at the girl he did see
And she screamed but her voice he sort of thought
Sounded less like fairy and more like Banshee!
Again he looked for her face so fair
To ground him from fanciful flight
All he saw was a reddish gray nest of hair
Surrounding a face far too white.
Suddenly she was above not below
And the power was hers not his to thrill
He wondered how everyone had not known
If only from her scream, so shrill.
Oh, he realized too late his mistake
In seeking to solace this way
His life was forfeit and hers to take
He should have saved his coins this day.
