National Coming Out Day, internationally observed civil awareness day celebrating individuals who publicly identify as bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender—coming out regarding one's sexual orientation and/or gender identity being akin to a cultural rite of passage for LGBT people. The holiday is observed annually by members of the LGBT community on October 11.

Whiskey Peat

world of spirits
exposed process burning fire
smoke-toasted earth of grasses, moss,

tree roots, soil
and the dead compacted
for thousands of years

cosmic time lays the gay cooper
bending the staves charring inside,
the butt cask helping with the penetration
of the spirit wood
