aye Budd, a time we much take much
care for our children... there was
a time we did not have to fear this
but "this one" walks among the
innocent these days to ruin the
beauty of childhood once had....

| I am happy to say parents I've observed in these past decades do, indeed, hover protectively over their little witches and goblins. Good contribution to the October flavors, Budd. ~~ Diana |

Seems to be our greatest fear these days. Among other fears. I would have to place the blame directly on the media who sensationalize every aberrant situation out there, where we begin to think that there is a bogeyman in every neighborhood–– at least that's what the maps of sexual predators show us. It's sad when I see the long line of cars waiting to pick up children after school.
I haven't got the statistics. But I would venture to say that is no more dangerous for kids to go out trick-or-treating today than it was in the 1950s when we went out alone in a very bad neighborhood for hours on a cold night.
