Tearing up the sheets
in a midnight rage
I gently press upon the night
with two fingers beneath her eyes
lifting the eyelids slowly
feel these hands upon her
warmth perspiring beneath
subtle cracks of skin
absorbing its cool radiance
of fear nestled between her lips
gently opening to a rhythm of words
marching to a tune of deftone dancers
drumbeats into your ears
counting how many words
welcome the world
sober and naked
to the color of you.
