Fear..do you know what it is like to be scared?
You don't know whether you're in control, prepared

You feel like people are behind your back, talking;
And you have a fear of being the victim of a stalking

When people scare you, you scream and panic;
You feel as though you're sinking on the Titanic

You don't like walking home by yourself at night;
Each strange movement or noise causes a fright.

You don't feel safe until you've reached your door;
And you don't know if you can tolerate much more.

I am a sufferer of fear; I have a good reason to be;
I've been threatened by punks several times..three.

I walk home from work, and often Karla is with me;
I don't like it when I'm alone, alone with my dignity!

Twice, punks said they'd harm me; I got so scared;
But then the next time it happened, I was prepared!

I called the police, also told Karla of the threat,
And so far, no harm has come to me yet!

But because of it I am frightened and scared,
And I feel like I am emerging from a nightmare.

It is bad enough when anyone's threatened at all;
But to threaten a disabled person..the nerve of it all!

I am on a crutch, can't move or run that fast;
But I hate reliving these awful memories of the past!

The kids who were involved were punished, and one was the next door neighbor of mine. They have since been evicted; and I've had very little problems since then, but each Hallowe'en I relive these times. It is NOT a laughing matter to be scared; and I also hate people coming up behind me and making loud, sudden noises or talking to me if I don't hear them. I am hard of hearing anyway, and I have to hear someone first before I respond; if I don't they just may regret it, as I may smack them a good one!! It's not because I am a mean, terrible person; it's because I've been scared too many times in my life, and this is how I happen to react!
