The Truth About Us
Loved Too Long

Sitting in the silent darkness,
Cowering from the world,
As long as they don’t see my tears
They’ll never know I hurt.
Curled up on the floor alone
Wishing it would stop,
Wishing that this pain would leave,
That these tears wouldn’t drop.
Buried in a cloud of sadness,
Overwhelmed by fear,
Scared that someone will find out,
There’s a frightened girl sat here.
Losing count of falling tears,
Drowning in my care,
Showing that I have emotions,
That I have a heart somewhere.
I know they think I’m just the girl
Who laughs and smiles all day,
But hurt me once and you will see
My heartstrings also fray…
