in my closet
lives the souls of my past lives
that carry the burdens of decisions past
and wrongs done to myself
they wear the tattered, torn
misshapen and ill-fitting garments of another me reminding me of what i once was
a bleeding heart
spending its life source thoughout eternity
pumping and leaking until empty yet continually going on with no purpose and direction

in my closet
lives the souls of my present
the ghosts of loves lost and hearts broken
passions ignited and consuming fires quenched
the ghosts of past lovers
and one night stands
that stole my heart
and left me soul-less and empty
waiting for their return

in my closet
lives the soul of my future
the bleeding heart staunched
the ghosts banished
by the angel of my spirit
my guardian in blue
who has healed all hurt and pain
cleaning the shelves of my mind
and filling the hangers of my heart with his presence
his love consumes me and leaves me breathless
giving much more than he takes
wrapping my essence in his warmth
he binds my spirit closer to his own

in my closet lives my soul
all that i have been
all that i am
all that i will be
all my trials and tribulations
joys and triumphs
i pull them from my closet
and wear them everyday
for they make me who i am

in my closet lives me...

Guardian in blue, what an interesting phrase. A very stirring piece of work here, Ms. Gaines.
