i wake up
and it's a brand new day
yesterday is gone (hallelujah!!)
i'm starting with a clean slate
no mistakes on it (yet)
and i am grateful

i wake up
and what a lovely morning it is
no matter the weather
the fact remains...
i woke up (beats bein' dead!)
and i am grateful

i wake up
i take a deeeep breath in (aahhhh!)
i feel my heart beating
i can hear see talk think
and that is a very good thing
and i am grateful

i wake up
greet the day with a prayer
greet the day with a smile
i ask the Lord for strength peace love forgiveness
because i am only human
and i am grateful

i wake up
get these old bones a-goin'
get ready for work
enjoy a leisurely walk *to* work
at least i have a job and can walk
and i am grateful
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

just wanted to thank the Lord for allowing me
to wake up...i have to thank Him for His many
blessings He gives me...i don't deserve them,
but He loves me (and you!) so much...He just
...does!! THANK YOU, GOD! :)

(((HUGS))) and love,

karla. :)

Inspirational and cheerful. This upbeat poem can knock depression out of the desolate. I enjoyed the poetry flow--quite smooth and free. We all have something to be thankful for if only we take the time to count our blessings and smell the roses--and you've thoroughly done that in this delightful read. Keep up the good work and the praises to God!! :) :)

Karla,
