…an all night café,
rich currents move
around the room
with lazy sounds
as the old man
sings the blues

People become shadows lost
in graceful dance,
and I am alone…
Entranced I dive
in the sea of
his music

Reality is in front of me,
an old and lonely
saxophone player,
all his dreams are
now illusions,
soft sounds filling
the loneliness
of his heart

Every note is telling me
a story of lost love,
each touch of his fingers
crying for a love
he never found,
beauty of his music
born from the pain
of a wounded soul

Echoes of haunting memories
twirl around me,
the music of his heart
touching me with
breathy whispers,
an undulating,
hidden melody

I watch the fascinating
notes drifting,
read by old eyes
and played by his heart,
his fingers molding, making
poetry with sounds,
sweet and intoxicating

The rhythm swirls
in the smoke filled room
and I am alone …
Tears fall softly,
in each of them I hear
mellow tones and
soulful sounds,
gliding on fleeting
memories

~*~

The old sax player
sings to my heart tuned
to the resonating blues…
he is holding a love
that never dies
