They say that eyes
are the window to the soul
why is it you squint yours?
So I can't see you?
I remember
the first day you held me
June 6
on the beach
I had no coat
You were thinking
of WWII
I was thinking
of how warm I would be
in your arms and
I would find out it
a few minutes
and GOD how I became addicted to that warmth
and you told me it couldn't work
because you loved her still
but I had faith and Ididn't listen
and the next few weeks were heaven
Always at your house
your bed became a second home
I became addicted
you at the computer
me lying in bed
or
you in bed with me
I was always in your bed
I snuggled under your covers
despite the heat
and GOD it was hot
and I loved how you held me
like you needed me
and I need to be needed
I need to be needed
It's a problem of mine
like my addiction to your warmth
addiction to your scent
addiction to the pain (physical)
But you loved her still
you love her still
and I didn't care
and I don't care
but you felt guilty
you felt bad
and you said it wasn't fair
wasn't fair to me
because I loved you
and you loved her
and I love you
and it isn't fair
and it isn't fair
that I love you
and you love me
and we're not together
because you love her
She who you cannot touch
She who knows her better
you know her better
you love her
and it's not fair.
