The Crawl Space
by Arthur Mills, Jr.
Through the mists of eons.
Through the mists of eons
Far beyond man's mortal mark
When seas ran deep and purged the sand
Indifferent and in contrast stark.
The distant table shore
Shaped by an ocean yet unnamed
Rebuffed the waves and shaped the sand
And so the sea floor valley framed.
In time the climate changed
And so withdrew the mighty tide
Leaving a rippled shell drenched sand
A foothold where a world could hide.
Rains that the drenched plateau
Washed the reddened supportive earth
Carrying the seeds to dress the sand
And green the fertile valley's girth.
Then came the dawn of man
The river drew him there to drink
To fish the waters from the sand
Take the time to sit and think.
To dream of how it was
That this land had come to be
The place of dreaming on the sand
A place to live in harmony.
From my book 'Derbal Yaragan' The formation of the coastal plain over millions of years and the forming of the Swan River. ( Derbal Yaragan )
