Print Save Become a Fan
Gold, amber, crimson and sienna
float to the ground,
as the chilling air surrounds us.
It is that time of year
when darkness comes earlier
and the Boys of Summer
are no longer playing on the diamond.
I miss the men in their orange and blue
running, stealing, scoring -
walks, strikes, balls, runs, outs
now it's minutes, points, penalties and goals.
"Burr!" it's cold again
The trees waving and shaking
becoming naked in the wind
As we stay inside
cozy and warm
endlessly eating so many candies,
chocolates and pumpkin pies -
Blue, white and gray become orange, purple and black
the western sky so beautiful
as it changes into the cool long night
But how I long for the return
the sights and sounds
of seemingly endless days of light.
