why must daddy put us through this again & again?
why must we *always* go, go camping in the rain?

tent's got a hole in it, it's the size of texas;
and the rain, it torments us and it vexes!

we are lying on the cold, cold, hard ground,
and instead of smiles, all we get is a frown!

mommy would rather be at home, in her bed;
and i think johnny's gettin' a cold in his li'l head!

he's sneezed on me, and i am covered with snot;
and i sure don't like being sneezed on; no, i do NOT!!

and suzie is saying a bug went into her ear;
and her whinin's the LAST thing i want to hear!!

and daddy's grumblin', says the fish ain't bitin'...
well, i wonder sure is thunderin' & lightnin'!!

i wonder if this danged rain will EVER stop..
i hope the river 'side us doesn't overflow its top!

but no..the rain continues to pour down like a sieve;
and all i am doing is wipin' my nose on my sleeve!

rain, rain, PLEASE go away, go away NOW!!
for i am startin' to feel just like a duck..and how!!

this is JUST what it was like, the first (and only!) time i went a k.o.a. in nashville, tennessee...should have gotten the first clue from the name of the road...three rivers parkway...the second clue was the distant lightning and rumble of thunder...our tents were under the highest trees in the place...sound asleep, i wake up and THERE'S A DAMN RIVER FLOWING THROUGH MY TENT!! (the river NEEDED to be dammed.) *grins* i think two of 'em went through my tent...everything i owned (including me) was thoroughly soaked. then there were the ticks and chiggers...but that's another story...i was NOT a happy camper, let me tell you! :) this is very well written, karen...11 +++!! :) (((HUGS))) and love, karla. :)
