Print Save Become a Fan
four tires traveled along that muddy road
long neck Dr. Peppers in a bicycle crotch
that gal, she won't be waiting forever
chances are she'll be licking a windowpane
rains wash away temporary fears and doubts
the big boys say she's is for "a-taken"
dunno if we rode for a laugh or, a quicken
my dad, if he'd knew.....would give us words
that devil beat his wife in a sunlit rain
and lil people jumped that imagenary rainbow
as four tires strolled up to a house in hue
two boys captivated in beauty of a young gal
some doors open wide, others in silent whispers
I suppose something whispered to him
could've been the stables calling my name
some are meant to take an eternal ride
the blue northern kicked up her storm in its grace
some mares never taste the bit of the bridle
blankets cannot comfort your soul nor, speach
a soul left to ride another, left to preach
if left to wonder, I'd have to bolt and run
fear strangles you if ya cant stand the plan
screams echo with that ole barn-owls' cry
as lightning strikes, your very grounds question
I heard nightfall scream for the day of mine own
with both hands I grabbed fists of mane so tight
with fear we rode to a brothers mirage of love
furys tears beckons for my brother to stop
a nightgown casts its light from white to red
"dear GOd, no" he screamed, as he rode the steps
her fall to grace uttered the word aloud, "NO!"
I suppose as the others did before her....
with pistols drawn, I stepped into his requiem
laughter was all he had left to offer of his sins
solemnly, he asked if I believed in God "n" truth
says God wont burn his children today or, ever
I knelt down and asked my brother to hand me his gun
holding a lantern just to see the face of death
"brother your light is just a link to my darkness"
with a toss, light became fire, then his utter darkness
I suppose I should tell ya he never raped that gal
but, I cannot disrespect the mother of my nephew
"n" that ole mare well, she rides the children
as,I swing from the ole elm tree with the other angels...
two brothers caught up in what is right "n" what was wrong..
