What is the difference
from day to day? Checking
to make sure homework is done,
sending them on their way.

Seeing the clothes strewn
from room to room, wondering
how to keep a mind breathing,
seems we all tend to presume,

that being a mother is second nature,
not needing life's costume, yet,
soul's singularity, it's depth
and uniqueness is consumed

with any others needing,
woven force is festooned, and
squalid ruins of life
opens natures old wound.

Being an earth's mother
becomes quite a shock. Loving
the child's light, hating
real life's forever-in-hock.
