Homeless man in the street ...ragged and alone..
Hoping for a handout before the day is gone.
Cold and shivering ..not even a coat to wear..
People snicker behind his back..no one to care.
I watch him wander around, a tear in his eye..
But for the grace of God go I.....

Little girl in her room... scared and crying..
Her mama's in the other room sick and dying.
Tears fall...despair and fear....bottled inside..
Everything is coming out..all she tried to hide.
I watch with saddness as she tells her mama goodbye..
But for the grace of God go I.....

Saw a man in town just the other day...
Sitting in a wheelchair..not much to say.
Bitterness etched on his face..heart made of stone..
Hate living deep inside...He don't want to go on.
The macho man inside him won't let him cry..
But for the grace of God go I.....

Man across the street...lost his precious wife..
Gun at his head...ready to take his life.
He's lost everything..even the will to live..
All hope has gone out of him...nothing left to give.
Blood spills the walls ..too late to cry...
But for the grace of God go I....

There are those who don't care, but there are few whose life a little rain does not fall. I would rather give work than a handout.

Linda,

There, but for the Grace of God, go I...I've had to learn this the hard way. We think our lives are tough, unbearable, and then we meet (or hear about) someone who has no home...or is disabled...or carries scars...or is "different" than the (so-called) norm. We could have it so much worse, but there, but for the Grace...thank you for this powerful, needed reminder. Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

yes, we should be thankful for what we already have; there are too many in this world who have it far worse. yes, i may be handicapped, and i may be poor, but i at least have a job, a roof over my head, food in my belly, and the ability to pay my bills. i also have the ability to bless others through my writes and bring hope to many. i am indeed blessed beyond measure, and i thank god for each one! love, your friend, karen lynn. ((((HUGS)))) and the best blessing of all: i have jesus christ in my heart; i am forgiven of ALL sins! :)

Wow, I loved this write! This is so true though, we may seem as though our problems are too overwhelming to bear, but there are always people out there who suffer so much worse.
The verses here were great. This would make an excellent song.10++++
