Treasure Lost

For the coin of minutes
I sold, as slave, my muse.

My senses seduced by
the glint of delay,
a gentle jingle of
instants touching
back to back.
Inspiration rendered lax
and much to willing
to accept the bribe
of fleeting numbness
in exchange for art,
now extinct.

Such frenzied greed...
For what?
Moments idling brain-dead
on the couch, or
napkins spared for lists
and not for verse?

Now hours later-
Fools' gold spent.
Poorer than had I
surrendered vaults of time
to jot down some lines,
and kept true treasure.

To sell your 'MUSE' is a terrible thing! For without it your heart can no longer sing! And to be slave in any form only brings on degradatoin and harm. I friend.
You clinical psychologist you. Stick around a little while and I will teach you a thing about writing poetry ok? Hi I am Bill a very speical head case of a nut. Check me out and you will agree ... maybe my words will set you free form the psychological binding I see (still a slave). Bill
