Lord, grant us the forever kind,
That sees the faults, but doesn't mind;
The kind that says, "I love you still" ~
If not by feelings, then by WILL.

The kind that's like Your OWN love, Lord,
That seeks to serve, not earn reward;
The kind that sees the best in each,
That seeks to pray for, not to "preach".

And when old age should take its toll,
Love, look beyond and love the soul;
Be thou our anchor and our joy,
A steadfast love time can't destroy.

A love-made choice to always stay,
To be there till our dying day;
And when death comes to break earth's spell,
Lord, may You tell us, "You loved well!"

--Connie

"Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.
Love never ends..."
(I Corinthians 13:7-8 RSV)

You post one of my favorite bible verses at the end of this inspirationnal poem. Just when I needed a lift I get to read this. Thanks loads. Go on living life as if today were the last day of your life. Depression will lift itself easily then.

My dear Connie, you write with the pen of an angel of God.

I'm seventy-four now, Connie. I've been infatuated with and loved and adored the same girl since we were both fourteen. Saying that, I think you understand how close I feel to the moving words of your beautiful poem.

A masterpiece!

Richard

Footnote:
I'm stunned to learn that Connie is no longer with us. I feel shattered.

Connie, keep an eye out for me. I'll be lookin' you up some day soon. Maybe you'll have written a few more verses by then. And my guess (up above) was right: You do write with the pen of an angel of God!
