like a candle in the darkness
i stand alone afraid to confess
that my love for you over the years
has not dried up like my tears

who knows? maybe some day..
you'll walk up to me and say
"like the sun gives the moon it's glow,
your love puts life into my soul"

as the wick burns to keep dark away
i've fought time to make my love stay
dont make my struggle go futile
let my love be called worthwhile

who knows? maybe someday..
you'll come up to me and say
"like you love me i love you too,
lets forget the past and start new"

let me dream and for once feel
how it is to hold you for real
i've come so far ,dont know how?
its too late to come back now

who knows?maybe someday..
you'll come up to me and say
"iam the flint which caused this wick to burn'
and when its time to re-ignite i have returned"

even you'll fall in love the same way
i have with you today
then you'll be able to see
through my eyes and endure what i feel
and just maybe someday
you'll regret you didnt hear what i had to say

How often this happens to us. How much longing we walk around with in our insides.
Bottled up and hidden in our hearts. Always waiting for the invitation that never comes. Very true poem with lots of feeling. Bill

I'm afraid I gave up on "somedays"...but I hold that love close to my heart, and keep it for me.
