Sitting on my porch , Theres so much
I can see..
So much heartache all around staring
back at me.
Across the road I see a man struggling
with his cane..
He's only blind , though I have heard
folks call him insane.
Down the road a homeless woman
searching through the trash bin..
Worn shoes on her coat to
warm her skin.
Theres a widowed lady and her grandson..
living across the way.
With a broken heart she stumbles
through her empty days.
There's a sad little boy sitting in an
orphanage all alone..
No Mommy or Daddy .. no one to
call his own.
Sad and lonely people...with such
shattered and broken hearts..
Open and wounded , showing all
the cutting jagged parts.

Thanksgiving feast before me, such an
elaborate table set..
Why should I spend Thanksgiving alone..
when these friends I have met?
Across me at the table..and old man
who cannot see..
With a smile on his face, he balances
his cane on his knee.
Beside him is the widowed lady and
her grandsons here too..
Theres a gleam in her eye that shines
like the dew.
Across her sits a lady with a new coat
hung on her chair..
Warm shoes on her feet, she didn't
know anyone cared.
Beside her sits a little boy with a tear
on his face..
Happiness shines in his heart...he bows
his head for grace.
Amidst the turkey and the ham, and the
stuffing galore..
They thanked the Lord for a Thanksgiving
as they'd never had before.

Who can you help this Thanksgiving? You
can make it better......for someone.....

Sometimes we need holidays to remind us of what's important. Excellent.

Linda, this was so beautiful, and I felt the sincerity. I am thankful for my family and friends, and that I have the ability to help those less fortunate. It only takes one little thing to light up a childs little "Hello, how are you?" to a person. Just a second of giving to put a smile on their face.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving

Excellent write Linda! Everyday is Thanksgiving if we can help even one person to feel better, that way we can also feel better about ourselves.

A very thoughtful write, Linda!

Remember what the Beatles said about it honey? "All the lonely people, where'd they all come from?' ... From all walks of life and states of existence. Some with nothing except what others provide on that special day of the year. You delineate this so well. Tell the story so beautifully. You understand and emphasize with others flight. I wish everyone did. This is so good an article. You ought to save it and the picture for every year at Thanksgiving. HAPY THANKSGIVING DEAR TO YOU AND ALL THE FAMILY. I want it to be filled with happiness and not strife. I will try to do better in the coming months, I promise you. Forgive me on this Thanksgiving day let the bells ring in your heart and let there be a twinkle in your eye. May your heart and soul rejoice. I love you. Bill xox
