If you are one who knows me, then it should be plain to see.
That I have always been a man, that clings to memories.
My memory is the way back to the things no longer there.
And most of them so precious, that gold cannot compare.

They take me back to those I lost so very long ago.
And precious moments spent with them, that no one else could know.
They take me back to where Iíve been and things that I have seen.
Like snow capped mountains rising up above a valley green.

Sometimes I like to close my eyes and go back just to see.
The day I fell in love with her and the day she fell for me.
I see him playing baseball, waving to me from out there.
And I see her looking up at me through all that thick red hair.

If I could leave them something that would never go away.
I would teach them to go back into their memory every day.
I would say to look around in there for times they spent with me.
For even if I am not here, In there Iíll always be.

We all know there will come a day when my time here is through.
And I hope youíll know I was a man that thought the world of you.
You will look back to the things I did, and the things I used to say.
I will never be far from you, just a memory away.

Greetings Jack,

I love your thoughts and your memories run like mine. I take a walk everyday down memories lane and find comfort ( SOMETIMES TEARS) in the footsteps.

Thanks again for your poetry.
