A Christmas Poem

With Thanksgiving behind and Christmas coming fast,
I put on the longjohns and take out the flask.
A snifter or two will ease all of the chores,
i'll vacuum the carpet and wash all the floors.
Finding the decorations is never easy to do,
must move most the basement and half the attic too.
The tree isn't real so I buy a can of spray,
doesn't matter when it's up, cause it won't rot away.
The lights are all tangled, what a jumbled-up mess,
the task of the season, to put my nerves to the test.
The garland is up, I promise not to swear,
a couple more jiggers and I really won't care.
The decorating is done and the shopping has started,
i'm off for the store, with my courses unchartered.
I'll buy boy gifts, for the boys and girl gifts, for the girls,
the way my luck runs, they'll have trucks that have curls.
Christmas is almost here and to bed I must go,
A little too much cheer, it would be nice to get snow.
Wait ! Don't go yet, I've got something to say,
there's only one week until New Years Day.
It's the same old routine and we all play the part,
I can get through them all, if I jump-start my heart.
Remember this rhyme, when you sit in your chair,
take time to relax, there are moments to spare.
Happy Holidays

With Christmas fast approaching this year was nice to read this poem.
You said lots in it to make me think. And it tells me to slow down too, relaxing moments are needed this time of year. |

| This is a beautiful poem. I think you truly captured the busy Christmas season, especially when you describe the tangled Christmas lights, and the chores that go along with the holiday season. It is the same way in my house. Christmas is a beautiful season, but a very tiring one! You really captured the essence of a hectic Christmas season. |

A spotlight on your sense of humor, Paul! As soon as I read the first two lines, I knew I was going to enjoy the read. I've always believed that you can tell a lot about someone by the way they deal with those tangled lights! Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas:)
