I know, the shoe was on the other foot then
I was the one who neglected spouse and health
I was the one who was unfaithful with work,
Raising to the status of demanding mistress that
Which was only intended to put food on the table.
But to watch her do the same damned thing is
Both penance, and punishment, harsh and cruel.
She can not, does not, see me withering away on
My side of the bed, feeding the fire of this affair
With bits of my dwindling soul. To be faithful
I have sworn, but oaths like hearts have their
Breaking points. My heart struggles, struggles
To hold vows and itself together
Until sense returns and prevails.
This is from a folder called "For My Wife".(#3) as is "communication" (#2)
It concerns a moment in time -- that is past but not entirely
