It seems that only yesterday he was just a little boy,
Outside in the back yard playing with his toys.
It was back in 1981 that our relationship began,
And now this little boy of mine has grown into a man.

Impossible to me it seems that he grew up so fast.
But his days of being a little boy could not forever last.
Itís hard for me to comprehend him being called a man,
Its just something I must deal with the best way that I can.

Each night I thank the Lord above for giving him to me,
And I hope Iíll always be the Dad that he needs me to be.
My heart swells up with pride each chance I get to tell someone,
How proud I am to be his Dad and that he is my son.

I love you Jacko

I hope you keep a copy of this poem for your son until he is old enough to realize what a great treasure it is. If my dad had ever written a poem for me I'm sure it would now be one of my most prized possessions. This is a good poem.
