Oh my god,
I hate these cold mornings,
shuffling through the frosty air
with the murky grey-blue sky
looming, dark and heavy.

Oh my god,
I can't stand this cold!
It's mid-December and here I am,
at half past seven in the morning
with no gloves and no scarf...

Oh my god,
just for a second then,
I was distracted by a pink haze
glowing on the horizon
the first signs on daybreak.

Oh my god,
just for a second now,
my skin doesn't feel cold,
My hands aren't numb with brittle fingers,
and I'm looking at the sunrise.

Oh my god,
did you ever see anything like this?
There's this blood red haze
spreading through the miserable clouds
and I'm spellbound.

Oh my god,
I just fell back into normality
harsh reality slaps my face and
all of a sudden, it's half past seven again
and I'm still freezing cold...

Nicely expressed perspective; daybreak moments on a frigid winter morning bring back a rush of memories. Enjoyed the way your words come full circle. Excellent write!
