Aimlessly I wander through
peculiar morning light.
Not yet fully awake,
I walk fine line
between two worlds,
knowing
neither is my home;
I wonder
what shape or form
journey toward matter
will take.

Pale light satiates
hungry lands without,
discloses deserts of
dissatisfaction within Ė
a lengthening discontent.
Cold ground below
mocks me with
shadow
that sucks me in,
swallows me whole.

All day the image
stalks me, weeds its way
into crevices between
thought and deed,
good intentions and
an inability to act.
A shadow of myself,
I wander
in search of substance,
belonging, and a home
within myself.
