Out of Despair

Out of the silence, out of the dark,
away from despair, a slow desperate walk.
Too long in the numbness, too long in the pain,
too many days lost, in a drugs novocaine.

So many tears held, afraid to be wept,
opaque walls of sorrow, where secrets are kept.
So many words left, unspoken now lost,
so much spirit broken, what measure the cost.

But the heart is refusing, to beat now in fear,
It begs to the soul, shed a tear, shed a tear.
Cry for the madness, the demons are bared,
now they are known, they run from you scared.

Out of the silence, out of the dark,
away from despair, a slow desperate walk.
Back into being, back into light,
scarred but not broken, eyes wet with sight.

OH, Trish.. this had to have been a truly cleansing write for you.. it is moving and filled with those demons..but I could feel that walk back to the light.. you have a real gift for expressing those places we sometimes try to ignore. Just super! katy.

This is an awesome poem. It really puts imagery in the reader's mind which, of course, livens up a poem anytime! Good write Ms. Boudreau ;)
