A boy of nine years hearing voices at night
dead people talking over one another
like radio static in his head
he cries, not knowing why he hears it
when nobody else can
A boy of ten years seeing demons
standing outside his window
black skinned with horrid fangs
he shivers, not knowing why they hate him
covering his eyes with his hand
A boy of eleven years in a dream
fighting terrible monsters nightly
he comes to know the sight of blood too well
this becomes his secret life
sharing the dreams with only his dad
A boy of twelve years in a field
feeling the wind blowing against him
it comes when he asks it to and stops then too
he grows to love these spirits
the new voices in his head
A boy of thirteen years at school
the sense of alienation sometimes overwhelming
knowing no one else there can see
he keeps himself distanced from them
revealing his true self only to the land
A boy of nineteen years deep in thought
the years have made a man of him yet..
he still finds himself distanced from them
A thick mask forming around his true inner self
to hide him from the world of man
A man of twenty one now in love
with the son he always wanted
and the promise of a legacy for him to have
but still the voices are speaking
all inside his head |
