a laugh

the night in sullen silence
descends as if the axe
to cut the ties that bind
for what the soul does lack,

that in this journey
where in the end is learned
of truth and what mattered
was all that was ever spurned,

for i alone chose this life
to always make my own path
so when the end does come
i will just have me a laugh.

yes, you 'chose' your path, richard...this one pierces the heart, a bit...i wonder about that laugh, oh, how i wish you many...laughs, but, powerful piece...'of truth and what mattered /was all that was ever spurned'/you see, maybe, just maybe...this 'choice' was influenced by 'circumstance'...i ...this, again, richard, moves me, i...i thisnk you need the 'laugh' and that darkness, yes, it does descend like 'an axe' and, ah, but you write with the intensity that is your 'truth' to you...see the laughter whenever you can...and the light, i hope, for you...and many, will come, again...and not the 'spurn'...some raw write, beautifully done, sigh...
