Why Did Not You Care?

What the hell is wrong with you?
Were you blind
Or did not you give a d**n?
I came to school
Each and everyday
Bruised, beaten and hurting.
I know you saw it
I could see it in your eyes,
But you did not give a d**n.
You never once tried to help me.
You never asked me
How I was doing.
You all went on with your day
Pretending you did not see anything,
Because you did not care.
All you wanted was for
Three o’clock to come
So I would not be there anymore
And so you could go on with your day.
All the tears did not matter either.
You all could have cared less
About me and the others.
All I ever wanted was
For someone to notice
Or to at least pretend to care,
But that was too much to ask.
Behind that face you saw every day
Was my own secret world.
A world of hell
That I wished so much
You would rescue me from,
But you did not.
Instead I keep it all inside me
And it nearly killed me.
Maybe you wondered
But you never asked.
I may have acted all big and brave,
But inside I was a scared little girl
Wishing you would help me.
Inside me I hide my true feelings
And wishes.
I hide my wish to die
Or to never have been born.
I tried so many times
To get your attention,
But you did not give a d**n.
You pretended nothing was wrong,
But I showed you there was.
Between the bruises and the tears
I showed you,
But you did not care.
Why did not you ask?
Were you really that blind?
Why did not you care?

~Written for all the teacher/adults that seen the battle wound from my father and did nothing.~
