Behind a huge glass pane
Children sat around,
Those that were feeling, well enough,
To play and move around,
Would meet there,
Their own private, little lounge,
As I, unaware entered,
The Pediatric Burn Unit,
While Searching, for a short cut
To another area, of the hospital,
I glanced, towards the children,
As they played silently,
One looked in my direction,
Smiled,
So lovingly, the world lit,
For miles,
I returned the smile,
With my whole heart and soul,
Throwing in, a few funny faces,
Making them, laugh, with a joy,
Not seen there, for a while,
A passing nurse,
Reflected,
"I like your style,"
Before I knew,
I was, the Unpaid Clown,
If only, for a preciuos while.
