Ah, my dark friend
You laid a trap for me,
And though I smelled the stench of your love,
I walked right into your lair-
I believed too much in my own strength of will-
I thought I could pull free before you swallowed me whole...
Your strength surpassed me,
Even as your cunning outwitted me,
And the unwholesomeness of your love
invaded my soul,
And made me a slave to your needs-
My pain gave you pleasure,
And I could only scream in agony
When your presence invaded my mind,
And your fingers wrapped around my soul,
Squeezing until I collapsed in a heap at your feet.
It was then I saw you smile,
And in those strange colored eyes
I saw the hunger that was your love for me,
Saw the sickness in your soul
That made you what you are-
It was then that I tried to run,
for foolish child that I was-
I thought I could play tag with a God and run away-
Thought I would laugh with my friends
About the dangerous game I had played-
I thought my quickness and youth would save me;
For I saw your size and thought you slow,
Saw the gray in your temples
and judged you old-
Thought I could outrun your shadow
like a hawk on a cloudy day...
My God, you were quick!
And though many think me fast,
You were faster still-
Your warrior's eyes watched the signals
My body gave away-
And before my muscles even twitched
Your hand reached out like lightning
And raised me to the sky,
An offering,
A gift,
A sacrifice to serve your needs,
And as my blood ran down your arm-
You dipped your fingers in my life,
And tasted my soul...
How will I ever forget that smile?
Those eyes that pierced me to the bone,
Those arms that trapped me like a spider in a web.
And now,
I weep for the key to the shackles
You have placed around my heart,
For when I look into those lion colored eyes,
Your dark beauty captures me once more,
And though I am not afraid-
I tremble,
For I am eternally bound by your dark love
And crave the blood I tasted on your lips-
Need the strength of your arms
To crush me to your chest
And feel your hot breath whisper
That you love me the best-
It doesn't even matter if its true ,
because now,
My soul belongs to you...

Retta, your soul was captured by a strong force. But you are so much stronger than that force. You capture all like myself who read you. HAIL TO RETTA ... A STRONGER FORCE ... Poetry in motion never to stop
floating in the atmosphere above us on a cloud of the brilliant poets. A special place reserved for you words. Bill Murray
