HEARTFLIGHT
In joy my heart flies free in winged flight,
as a bird stretching its wings.
Soaring ever higher, following the sun,
seeking the warmth of that sparkling orb.
In fear it falters in its flight and comes to rest,
hiding itself as the bird does under its wing,
seeking shelter beneath the pouring rain.
In hope it resumes its flight,
cautiously testing its fragile wings once more,
as a baby bird which struggles to learn to leave
the shelter of the nest.
