A Presidential Address

I watched and listened
A man spoke to me
I had waited for him to speak
He calmed me as he spoke
I no longer think the man of regret
There are such things as errors
Maybe I made one of bad judgement
The fighting still should not occur
The man should require a greater braintrust
No one man can do it alone
My senses tell me he is sincere
But our countries leader needs to bolster his council
One thing I find so clear
God will help to ease the tension
My mind has endured

Hmmm.. this fine piece proves you right: your 'mind DOES endure'.. I especially like your word "braintrust".. I hate the very thought of war.. ANY war. You've written an honest poem here and that makes it one that will linger. katy.
