Flights of a Feathered Fancy

This is the time of year I wait for each season. Along with my own energies for nature I get caught up with the travels of my feathered friends.

Another find in my attic of past writes. I like these although my writing has matured a little.

~*SKR*~

Flights of a Feathered Fancy

Birds in flights of fancy making their way north
Canvassing the blue skies... necks stretched for all their worth
Beating wings that struggle with squawks and quacks aloud
Geese with tails a waggle, in and out of clouds.
Some form "V"s like a letter others mere vapor trails...
All with wings to steer them, resting as they sail.
Into drafts for Woodstorks, gliding like a jet
To rookeries in south marshes...amid Cypress trees to rest
Small birds gently gather among pine tree limbs to roost
Pyracanthor berries...their energies to boost
Like buckshot from bushes as birds charge and swiftly fly
Into gray clouds shifting...like dark forms in the sky
Off into the distance...heading north with winds that blow
Old Man Winter's closing his chilly, wintry doors
Springtime's around the corner and with her comes the sweet
Calls of nestling's fuzzy balls... Bluebirds for their tweet...
Hearts to woo for mating, birdboxes for their homes
They mate for life as we should...and never, ever roam.
They visit every season for the joys that they convey...
We feed them within reason til they're off and on their way
So welcome feathered fancies come nest and feed my eyes
Your colors are my wonder as your rainbows meet the sky.

I can feel the love that went into this piece, Susan! And I love that picture, how utterly ethereal and whimsical! I heard the most lovely sounding bird twitter today, I love the sounds of Spring! Enjoyed! :)

Wonderful images and cadence. Love this one. Keep going through those old trunks in the attic, there's a treasure trove there.
