I Dream -Walked last night,
Found my way back into my forest,
And they welcomed me,
My lovely trees,
Said I had been gone
Much too long...

I had a friend with me,
He trotted at my side,
Laying his head on my breast
When we stopped to rest...
Looking up at me,
With his yellow eyes,
Smiling...

I watched the eagle fly
Heard his hunting cry,
And felt at peace,
Did not need to feel
That dark release
I seem to need so much,
To help me stay,
And not run away.

The forest was clear today,
So damn green and full of life,
Even the air seemed to breath,
The sky so blue,
And I felt you,
Here with me,
Though I could not see
Where you stood,
I felt your presence
In my woods...

I heard them then,
My lovely leaves,
Whispering and telling me things,
Like the tiny shadows,
They cast on the ground,
And I realized I had found,
My way once again,
All it took was to remember
You my friend...

How much that darkness calls to me…
Blinding my eyes so I can’t see,
The hand you keep holding out there,
Telling me to grasp it,
If I dare...

I do not think you know
How hard it is for me to show,
The caring and trust you need from me,
Wish I could listen to my lovely trees,
When they say in the gentle breeze;

“Woman, you must one day be free
Forget the tragedy you know,
And let yourself be shown
A better way to be…
Then you will be as free,
And as lovely,
As we…”

i like how this started out as a dream-walk, but the further you read you forgot you were within a dream ... therein was the true freedom ... it so reminded me of how we dream that we are running or flying or whatever, and upon awakening you have the vague sense of having done same ...and then the real task, getting up, clinging to that vague dream sense and trying to achieve the same goals in life. lovely piece. thank you. -a
